Cursor is an AI-based code editor built on top of Visual Studio Code that helps developers write, understand, and improve code faster. With natural language, you can describe what you want to create or change, and the tool generates or updates the code for you. The tool is designed for both professionals and students, providing efficient tools to navigate large codebases, make multi-line edits, and perform smart refactoring.
Cursor offers smart autocompletion, refactoring, and a deeper understanding of the entire codebase, making debugging and complex changes faster and easier. You can also chat with your code to gain insights and explanations without having to search through files. For those who value privacy, there is a local mode where all code stays on your machine, and Cursor works seamlessly with existing VS Code extensions and workflows. Cursor can build charts and diagrams right in the chat. With the /visualize command, data is analyzed and the answer is shown in the chat, available in Agents Window. With the Cursor app for iOS, you can control agents on your computer from your phone, follow up, reply and start new tasks. With run.steer(), you can steer Cursor SDK agents while they run. The message is added to the next turn, and a subagent that is working is moved to the background and keeps working. Rollouts writes a monitoring plan and follows changes as they are deployed. If a regression is found, Rollouts finds the PR (pull request) and opens an issue, and one click starts a cloud agent that fixes it. Claude Haiku 5.5 is available in Cursor. For shorter requests, it costs ten times less than Claude Haiku 4.5. Enable it under Cursor Settings and Models. GLM 5.3 and GLM 5.3 Flash are also available, and GLM 5.3 Max is, according to Cursor, the best performing open-weights model on CursorBench 4.0. Cloud agents can now build interactive canvases as part of their work. A finished canvas can be shared with the team via a link. The Environments API is available in beta, and environments now support up to 300 repositories.
